What you need to set up a new office network

A reliable business network has five parts: an internet circuit sized for your team (with a backup connection if downtime is costly), a business firewall, network switches, enough Wi-Fi access points for the space, and structured cabling that connects it all. Getting the order right is what keeps opening day on schedule.

  1. Order internet early. In parts of Eagle County, new business circuits can take weeks to install. We help you choose a provider and place the order as soon as the lease is signed.
  2. Design before drywall. Access point and cabling locations are planned while walls are still open.
  3. Coordinate the cabling contractor so drops land where equipment and desks will actually be.
  4. Install and configure the firewall, switches and Wi-Fi with separate staff, guest and payment networks.
  5. Test and document coverage, speeds and every login, then hand it over.

What it costs to wire a new office

The biggest variables are square footage, number of cable drops, building construction, and whether you need a backup internet connection. A small office might need a handful of drops and two access points; a restaurant or multi-floor lodge needs far more. We provide a fixed project quote after a walkthrough so the number does not drift.

New locations from Vail to Gypsum

New business space in the valley ranges from village-core retail in Vail to industrial units in Gypsum and offices along the US-6 corridor in Eagle-Vail. Internet lead times vary a lot by building, so we get involved early to keep opening day on schedule.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to set up a new office network?

An internet circuit, a business firewall, network switches, Wi-Fi access points and structured cabling. Order internet as early as possible and plan access point and cabling locations before walls are closed.

How much does it cost to wire a new office for internet?

It depends on square footage, the number of cable drops, building construction and whether backup internet is needed. Vail Valley IT provides a fixed quote after a walkthrough.

How far in advance should I plan the network for a new location?

Start as soon as the lease is signed. Internet installation lead times and construction schedules are the most common causes of delayed openings.

Should we use Ubiquiti UniFi or Cisco Meraki?

Both are solid business platforms. UniFi has lower upfront cost and no required licenses; Meraki has subscription licensing with strong cloud management and support. We recommend based on size, budget and who will manage it.
